After 18 month of deep conversations and, probably, negotiations in clandestine spaces the Swedish authorities finally ended their investigations into the Northstream explosions of September 26th 2022. Some quotes out of the below linked article in the NYTimes, 2024, February 8th, may make clear the seemingly hard choice by those involved not to say anything profound about it (you may hear some irony here, of course):
‘“Sweden does not have the jurisdiction to investigate this matter further,” the Swedish Security Service said in a statement on Wednesday. It added that the investigation had been “opened in order to examine whether the sabotage targeted Sweden and thereby threatened the security of Sweden, and it was determined that this was not the case.”’“Sweden does not have the jurisdiction to investigate this matter further,” the Swedish Security Service said in a statement on Wednesday. It added that the investigation had been “opened in order to examine whether the sabotage targeted Sweden and thereby threatened the security of Sweden, and it was determined that this was not the case.”’
‘Mr. Ljungqvist, who said he was not in Stockholm on the day the investigation ended, suggested that now even if his work was over, the forces of misinformation and disinformation about the case would continue to run rampant.
“It is clear to me that Nord Stream is a site for various influence operations and that the news that is leaking is likely part of that chess game,” he said.’
The NYTimes journalists suggest that it might be the probable revelation of pro-Ukrainian forces that are the most suspected that hindered the Swedes to publish openly their results. However, the pro-Ukrainian trail is – as should be known by now – only coming up after Seymour Hersh’s prolific bombshell has been published. Therefore, think twice.
